Alpha Male Screenplay – Finalist in Red Planet Pictures Prize

My zombie horror screenplay was chosen as a finalist in Red Planet Pictures Prize last year – a competition requiring an initial submission of the screenplay’s first ten pages, followed by the entire script for those that made it through to the second round.

In truth, I can’t quite remember what the grand prize is (I think it might be representation or summat), but it’s nice to have received some kind of recognition for the story already, even if it doesn’t go any further with Red Planet.

I actually only heard about the competition about a week before the submission deadline, and although Alpha Male had gone through tonnes of development, with treatments already worked out, I’d not actually quite got around to writing an actual script, actually. Still, I hammered ten pages together and promptly forgot I’d even entered until they came back at the beginning of November and asked for the full script.

After three continuous days and nights without a break, I managed to drag a first draft kicking and screaming from my tortured depths of consciousness. I kinda surprised myself – writing a full script in such short a time, and was even pretty happy with the end product. I feel good about Alpha Male, and even if it doesn’t go any further with Red Planet, I’m confident you’ll one day be invited to the premiere.

I won’t be there (I hate crowds/people/London/you), but I think you’ll enjoy it nonetheless.
